Texas Tech’s educational leadership program is partnering with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching to build a competency-based model for school principals, according to a news release.
This will be done with a $7.2 million federal Supporting Effective Educator Development grant.
The news release says there’s a need for better leadership in high-need, low-functioning schools, and the model will measure principals on given competencies like classroom teaching, professional development and building communities across diverse stakeholders, such as parents and community members.
